So says Ms. Rowling. (via The Leaky Cauldron - wait for the jump)
TLC also reports on JKR's press conference this week at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. There are transcripts and photos, so go check it out. (Once the post comes up, check the sidebar on the right for links to earlier stories and the photo gallery.)
Hear that, Dumbledore-is-faking-his-death theorists?
Harry Potter blogger extraordinare Travis Prinzi is on it. Be sure to read the following, too:
— Defending Dumbledore, Part I: Loyalty and Manipulation
— Is Dumbledore Dead?
Substantative blogging and more links later…
Update (8/4): Now this is really dumb. Do I have the credibility to tell someone to "Get a life!" if I run a Harry Potter blog? Hmmm…

It's so good to finally have a clear, decisive word on this. I almost regret giving all the Faked Death theories the time of day, and even trying to convince myself of their plausibility (which I failed to do).
On the other hand, I did get to dig into lots of details I might have missed if I didn't give the theories the time I did.
In any case, I'm just glad we can move on to other, much more important, discussions.

Well, of course he is. Has there been any serious doubt? Rowling doesn't pull punches, nor is she an idealist. Time and again, she's shown us that death is death. The Mirror of Erised, Sirius, Nearly-Headless Nick…these are all lessons in the finality of death.
Nor would a faked death jibe with the character of Dumbledore. He never taught through deception.
(Very appropriate use of Richard Harris as Dumbledore, by the way.)

Apparently, there was enough doubt to get these people upset about the whole thing - upset enough to boycott the last book!

You know, maybe we all ought to ease up on the speculation and let Rowling tell the story her way!
I don't think we know everything there is to know about Dumbledore yet, but if Rowling says he's dead, he's dead.
However–didja happen to notice that his picture is now on the wall at Hogwarts? And that those pictures speak?

The Spoils of Story
Before you read this, please note that in this post, I give away significant plot details on a number of stories that, if you have not read or seen them, then first, shame on you, and second, be aware.

Still with me?
The other night, friends …

That's the stupidest petition I've ever seen. How arrogant to presume that they know better than she how to write the books! JKR created the characters. She can kill off whomever she pleases!

I miss your link to here from your home page

Please do not flame me for we all have different opinions, I believe JKR is lying now everyone do not start harassing me but if you read the way Dumbledore dies it really does not fit with how others have died from the same spell b/c Dumbledore flew up in the air when he died. In my opinion that makes no sense if he really dead b/c when Cedric Diggory, Harry's parents and others have died from Avada Kedavra they fell to the ground. They did not fly into the air. When all my friends read that death scene and cracked up b/c they all knew dumbledore was still alive. Well if he is really dead, that really was one very badly written death scene By the way I do believe Sirius Black is dead.

Well, fantasyfreak, you seem to have set up the proposition that anybody who expresses a different opinion is flaming you. Nevertheless, I will attempt it.
Have you looked at Muggle Matters, and have you read Felicity's comments? Much of what you bring up has been addressed in those sites.
I think it's rather nasty to claim that an author you like–and I assume you like ROwling or you wouldn't be posting a comment–is "lying." I write myself; I haven't published a novel yet, but I have had some work professionally published. I certainly wouldn't lie about my work, and I don't think JKR would either.
Just some thoughts.
